TRIPATAKI CHAKRAS FOR ILL HEALTH AND DEATH FOR THE YOUNG

Pataki Chakra
Though pataki chakra is one of the hallmark of jyotisha shastra in judging ill health and arishtas, it is not given the due attention by many practitioners. However, the astrologers from the eastern parts of India relied on this quite heavily for Judging Balarishta.
1. Construction
Draw three verticals and three horizontal lines. There would be 12 ends of lines each of them shall be assigned to 12 signs from Aries to Pisces. Movable signs shall have vedha from and cause vedha to the dual signs excluding the one in the 3rd from it; Fixed signs shall have vedha among other fixed signs; whereas the Dual signs shall have vedha from and cause vedha to all movable signs excluding the one in the 11th from it. Draw all the vedha causing lines and the resulting diagram is known as the Pataki Chakra.
Place the planets in the horoscope in different signs in the Pataki charka and see the planets causing vedha on the Lagna. If the dandadhipati causes vedha on the Lagna, then the native suffers due to Patakirishta.
2. Computation of Yamardha-pati
2.1. Yama and Yamardha
When a day is divided into 8 parts, each of them is known as a yama, which spans for approximately 3 hours. When the yama is further divided into 2 parts, each of them is known as a yamardha. As the name states, ardha, means half and yama is the 8th part of the day; yamardha is the half of a yama and spans for "approximately" 1.5 hrs. Yama is known as the son of the Sun and strictly follows the Sun for its definition and hence the Sunrise and Sunset becomes crucial for their computation.
Each day a new cycle of yama and yamardha starts with the Sunrise and Sunset. The duration between the Sunrise and Sunset is called Dinamana (Dina is day, and mana is length or duration). Thus there are 4 yama in a dinamana and 8 yamardha in that which spans for 3 hrs and 1.5 hrs approximately. Since the duration of the dinamana can change with seasons, so does the duration of the Yama and Yamardha and hence they cannot be taken exactly as 3 or 1.5 hrs, but need to be computed for each day. Similarly, the duration of the night from Sunset to subsequent Sunrise is called the Ratrimana, where ratri means night.
2.2. Yamardhapati
Yamardhapati means lord of yamardha. The computation of the lord of Yamardha differs from day to night. The method of finding out the yamardhapati is given below:
2.2.1. Day based
The 1st yamardha is lorded by the lord of the weekday. The subsequent yamas are reckoned from the previous yamardhapati counting the 6th weekday lord wherefrom. For example the 1st yamardha on a Sunday shall be that of the Sun, the 2nd one shall be the 6th weekday lord from the Sun, which happens to be Venus. The 3rd one shall be lorded by 6th weekday lord from Venus, which is Mercury.
2.2.2. Night based
Similar to day yamardhas, the 1st yamardha of the night is also lorded by the weekday lord. However, the 2nd lords shall be counted as the 5th weekday lord from the previous one. Thus, the 1st night based yamardha lord on a Sunday would be the Sun and the 2nd yamardha lord would be the 5th weekday lord counted from the Sun, which is Jupiter and similarly the 3rd yamardha lord is 5th weekday lord from Jupiter, which is the Moon.

3. Danda and Dandadhipati:
Each yamardha is divided into four dandas each of them measuring approximately 22.5 minutes. If the day is reckoned as that of 60 ghatikas, the duration of 1 yama would be 7.5 ghatikas, 1 yamardha would be 3.75 ghatikas and 1 danda would be 0.9375 ghatikas or 56.25 vighatikas. Thus there are 64 dandas in a day. This can be noted that the day can be reckoned as the duration of 60 ghatikas or 64 dandas.
3.1. Night based danda-adhipati
The lord of each danda is called the dandadhipati. Like the yamardhapatis, the counting of the dandadhipatis vary from day to night. In the night, the 1st danda for a yamardha is ruled by the yamardhipati, while the subsequent ones are found by counting 6th weekday lord from the weekday of the previous dandadhipati.
For illustration, we all know by now that the 1st yamardha at night (at Sunset) on a Sunday is ruled by Sun and hence the 1st dandadhipati is also the Sun. The 2nd dandadhipati in the Sun’s yamardha would be ruled by the 6th planet from the Sun in the weekday order, which is Venus. Similarly, the 3rd dandadhipati would be ruled by 6th planet from Venus, which is Mercury and the 4th one would be ruled by the Moon.
3.2. Day based danda-adipati
The counting of the dandadhipatis for Day based yamardhas is done in the following ways. The 1st danda of the day based yamardhas is lorded by the yamardhipatis themselves. The 2nd one is lorded by the planet indicated by the number attained, when the previous dandadhipati’s number is divided by 2 and expunging the decimals. When the number arrived at is less than 1, then Rahu becomes the Dandadhipati, since his number is 8.
For illustration, let’s find the dandadhipatis in the Moon’s Yamardha. The first one would be lorded by Moon; the 2nd would be by Sun, since we get 1, ruled by the Sun when we divide Moon’s number, which is 2 by 2. The 3rd would be ruled by Rahu, since dividing, Sun’s number by 2 we get 0.5 and the 4th one would be ruled by Mercury, since when we divide Rahu’s number, which is 8 by 2, we get 4, which is ruled by Mercury. Writing the dandadhipatis in Moon’s night yamardha we arrive at Moon-> Sun-> Rahuà Mercury.

4. Judgement
Standard jyotish books say that patakirishta happens whenever the dandadhipati is placed with the Lagna or having vedha on the Lagna. However, our tradition teaches that since Lagna is for intelligence and Moon is for health and longevity, if pataki-rishta happen from the lagna, then suffers in his intelligence, however if it happens from the Moon, there could be serious troubles to health and longevity.
There are various types of Patakirishta which is discussed below. Wherever lagna is mentioned, substitute it will Moon for health related matters, else from lagna will show troubles to intelligence such as mis-direction and failing of judgment.
4.1. Niyata- Patakirishta:
a. Malefic dandadhipati is placed in the Lagna or cause vedha to the Lagna
b. The four places of vedha do not have either conjunction of a benefic or its vedha, however, have conjunction with or vedha of Malefics.
Such patakirishta cause death of the newborn very early i.e., in days as indicated by the rasis causing vedha.
Benefic vedha or conjunction on the Lagna or the Lagna vedha rasis, can delay the death to month or year indicated by the Pataki Chakra.
4.2 Aniyata Patakirishta:
a. Malefic dandadhipati is placed in the Lagna or cause vedha to the Lagna
b. The four places of vedha have either conjunction of benefics or vedha from them.
Or
c. Benefic dandadhipati is placed in the Lagna or cause vedha to the Lagna
d. The four places of vedha have either conjunction of malefics or vedha from them.
Such patakirishta does not cause death of the newborn but suffer severe health troubles in days, years as indicated by the rasis causing vedha.
If benefic danadhipati is placed in the Lagna or have vedha on it and other vedha rasis have conjunction or vedha from Benefics, then this augurs well for the native and the native enjoys good health.
Malefics & Benefics
For judging the patakirishta, Rahu, Ketu, Sun, Saturn and Mars are considered as malefic whereas the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are considered benefic.

Yamardhapati:
The native is born in day time on Sunday. The Sunrise on that day was at 05:31:42 am (5.528hrs) and the Sunset was at 06:10:12 pm (18.17hrs), which makes the dinamana (duration of day) to be 12.642hrs. Diving it by 8 parts, each part would be 1.58hrs. The native is born at 14.546hrs which is 9.018hrs after Sunrise. Thus the yamardha rising at the moment of birth is 9.018/1.58 = 5.7 or 6. We check the yamardha table and find that 6th yamarda in day half of Sunday is ruled by Jupiter. Thus Jupiter becomes the yamardhapati for the native.
Dandadhipati:
The danda rising in Jupiter's yamardha can be known from the decimals of the yamardha which is 0.7 in this case. Since there are 4 dandas in a yamardha, the 1st danda will be shown by decimals from .00 to .25, the 2nd one will be .25 to .50, the 3rd one will be .50 to .75 and the 4th one will be shown by .75 to 1.00.
This shows that the native is born in 3rd danda of Jupiter which is ruled by Moon (from the table). Thus the dandhadipati for the native will be Moon.
Analysis:
Lagna is in Sagittarius with no conjunction, however Vedha from Venus. Since Venus is a benefic to the Lagna, it will save the native from all aristas.
Moon is in conjunction with Rahu, have vedha from Ketu, Mars, Mercury and Sun and Jupiter. The vedha of Rahu, Ketu, Mars and Sun cause severe health and mental trouble to the native, however the vedha of Mercury and Jupiter is the salvaging factor.

¿Danzas bajo la Luna?

Los astrólogos entienden algo acerca del diseño del Sistema Solar que los astrónomos no entienden. Estudiando el mecanismo del reloj cósmico y reconociendo el patrón, dan lugar al testigo vidente de estrellas que trabajan en un Orden Divino.
Los astrólogos buscan y encuentran concordancia cósmica y son directamente testigos de la obra del Relojero Maestro. Los cuerpos planetarios no solamente han establecido con habilidad sus órbitas, sino que también se han dado tiempo para cumplir con propósitos específicos.
Cada uno transmite su mandato a través de su propio y único sistema de mensaje. A pesar que la luna no es técnicamente un planeta, los Astrólogos reconocen la relación de la Luna con los flujos de marea que alientan los sentimientos humanos.Como un conductor de gracia, la Luna dirige los ritmos de la marea de los océanos.Esta luminaria también regula las mareas hormonales que crecen y menguan dentro del cuerpo femenino. Piense en esto: el ciclo lunar tiene una órbita de veintinueve días que calza con el ciclo menstrual de todos los cuerpos humanos femeninos en edad fértil! Suficientemente interesante, no hay ninguna investigación que haya sido conducida al estudio de las variables de la emoción humana en relación al ciclo lunar. La influencia directa de la luna, el Yin la contraparte del sol Yang, ha sido dejada en la oscuridad por largo tiempo. Esto hasta que la Danza bajo la Luna abrió ″este libro de la noche″ para un exámen más detallado de almas sensibles.

Las fábricas se pueden beneficiar de una eficiencia de ensamblaje en línea, pero los seres humanos se expresan en 12 tipos básicos. No somos todos movidos (o manipulados)en forma igual por la misma motivación. No es coincidencia que Jesús haya buscado 12 disípulos, que Abraham fundó 12 tribus y que el Zodiaco identifique 12 arquetipos celestiales. La cultura de mercado pone énfasis en la uniformidad. Años atrás, los trabajadores de una fábrica estaban orgullosos de lo que su esfuerzo construía. En la actualidad, los trabajadores son ubicados en nichos donde repiten infinitamente, las mismas tareas como engranajes de una rueda. En general los lugares de trabajo tampoco toleran las muestras de emoción. Se espera que los empleados se adapten a los protocolos y cumplan con los tiempos límites en comportamientos, idealmente apropiado a los robots. Se califica como "no profesional" demostrar los sentimientos de uno. Cuando se fuerzan las emociones a la supresión, esto resulta en disfunciones sociales. La sociedad Americana es increiblemente violenta (los tiroteos en colegios son un ejemplo); y hay altos niveles de depresión, alcoholismo, obesidad y abuso de droga. Este fenómeno refleja las formas que tiene la gente para adaptarse al vacío de su vida interior. Todas las porciones de la psique humana han sido acordonadas. Dada la extensa evidencia de comportamientos mal adaptados, ¿puede ganarse algo con el estudio de los ciclos de la luna?. Como astróloga, que estudié el rol vital de la Luna en la vida de los clientes, creo que se puede. De hecho, el entendimiento genuino espera por aquellos que están listos para el último viaje. Su destino es el yo interior, mostrando la propia consciencia como su Meca. La premisa reconoce la sabiduría inherente dejada por Mercurio en la pared del Templo: "Conócete a ti mismo".
Cada planeta ejerce ambos potenciales positivo y negativo, como lo hacen todos los signos; sin embargo es la Luna la que sirve como embajador celestial ligada directamente con lo que sentimos. Los movimientos de la Luna dan paso al vasto espectro de emociones que se encarnan en ella(especialmente encarnación femenina).Si nos tomamos el tiempo de correlacionar nuestros sentimientos al ciclo lunar, podemos anticipar estos flujos rítmicos antes que se manifiesten. Las emociones siguen generalmente una huella lunar. Si se busca un autoconocimiento más fértil, se puede encontrar un tesoro trazando el mapa del viaje de nuestro yo interno. Lo que me obligó a escribir este libro desde la perspectiva del astrólogo (quien reconoce el rol esencial que juega la luna)fue entendiendo que a millones de personas se les recetaba Antidepresivos. Estos altos índices sugieren un síndrome del Canario en la Mina de Carbón siendo tratado a través de una ingeniería social encubierta. ¿Qué se dice acerca de una sociedad dada, si millones deben medicarse para funcionar dentro de ella? La Astrología se relaciona con la Luna como un planeta Yin, por lo tanto naturalmente es asociada con las mujeres. El Sol, su complemento, generalmente se refiere a los hombres y los comportamientos masculinos. La sociedad americana tolera algunas expresiones emocionales en las mujeres, pero ninguna (aparte de la rabia) en los hombres. Las grandes muestras de emoción son primariamente reservadas para nuestro moderno día, ¿Está esta distinción ligada a la luna, a las normas culturales basadas en el género, o ambas? Resultado final: las mujeres tienden a estar más en contacto con sus sentimientos. Por eso no es una sorpresa que la mayoría de los antidepresivos son para mujeres. (También he visto a los hombres Cancer luchar con profundos giros emocionales, debido a su íntimo lazo con la luna).
La Luna ilumina los paisajes de nuestra vida interior, con química cósmica trabajando poderosamente en la mezcla. Por ejemplo: un signo de fuego de luna nativa, puede sentirse lento y terrenal, cuando la luna transita por un signo de tierra. Por el contrario, un signo de agua con una luna nativa tiende a sentirse estable, seguro y contenido durante esos intervalos lunares. El ciclo lunar se repite cada veintinueve días; eso significa que la luna gasta cerca de 2.4 días en cada signo sucesivamente. Uno puede diseñar un viaje de Danza bajo la luna personal y así grabar lo que se siente cada mes cuando la luna cruza el mismo signo. A través del tiempo, emergerán patrones claros. Sin embargo, es importante mencionar que nunca dos días son completamente parecidos. Eso es porque cuando La luna regresa al mismo signo cada 29 días, el Sol se habrá movido al próximo signo. Además, la panoplia estelar completa se habrá alterado. Es mejor guardar los logotipos astrales como un caledoscopio celestial. Las cambiantes facetas crean constantemente nuevos diseños, sin embargo los tonos básicos permanecen. Por último, la influencia de la luna se destacará. Tu viaje revelará que tus estados de ánimo no son accidentales. Con el tiempo verás que hay un método lunar profundo para la gran "locura " cósmica.
Danza bajo la luna me mostró que mi mejor escritura viene cuando la luna transita Acuario. Intuitivamente gravito a la palabra precisa que cumple "lo prometido". Tiendo a acceder a ideas visionarias cuando la luna transita Acuario y tengo más paciencia al lidiar con tareas mundanas cuando la luna transita Capricornio. Trato de evitar viajes largos en avión en dicho tiempo, porque las cosas se mueven muy lento. La luna en Virgo da la razón al mandato de limpieza del signo, porque es típico que es cuando siento la urgencia de lavar o limpiar en lugares (como detrás del refrigerador)que de otra forma ignoraría. Cada uno de nosotros resuena en forma diferente a la música de las esferas, la llave a los Tiempos de los Arquetipos Originales. Mi experiencia tal vez no concuerda con la suya. Para bailarines bajo la luna avanzados es útil llevar un registro de los ciclos de la luna de todos los miembros de la familia. De esta forma, se puede anticipar oportunidades y también potenciales para intervalos cargados antes de que ocurran. Asi, mis amigos, es la mejor terapia cósmica!
Edgar Cayce, El Profeta Dormido de América definió la vida de familia como el semillero del karma. No toda la familia posee los componentes astrológicos volátiles. Sin embargo, los circuitos kármicos cortos ciertamente existen en su mayoría. Pueden ser descubiertos si los buscas. Danza bajo la Luna fue diseñada para promover cada proceso personal de descubrimiento del lector. Todos experimentamos el viaje de la luna, a lo largo con aquellos otros planetas, en relación a nuestro único circuito de la carta natal. Debido a que la ciencia (aparte de la física cuántica)está encerrada en lo material, ha convencido a muchas personas pensantes que los planetas no pueden afectarlos. No parece lógico desde una perspectiva terrenal, que un "cuerpo" allá afuera pueda influenciar el cuerpo de uno acá abajo. En contraste, la mística se relaciona con un mundo viviente como una página unificada de la vida. Se mantiene unida a trabajos incomprensibles de una vasta red de hilos energizados de luz. Cualquier perturbación de un hilo resplandece a través del paño completo.
Aquellos que descartan como "coincidencia" la conexión orbital de la luna con la menstruación de la mitad de la población del mundo demuestran un pensamiento con poca visión. Lo mismo se puede decir para aquellos que dicen que "no creen en la astrología" yo tiendo a ofrecer una réplica ágil de que: "la gravedad no cree en ti tampoco". Enfréntalo: cuando viene la unión de la naturaleza de la ley universal, no se requiere la creencia humana. Ya sea que uno está de acuerdo o de otra forma: el agua se congela cuando alcanza los -32 grados. Luego existe la analogía entre la anatomía humana, la química y el cosmos. Se observa algo profundo en la forma que pequeños átomos replican el gran plan del diseño cósmico. En el caso de los átomos, electrones microscópicos giran sus órbitas alrededor del núcleo atómico. En el sistema solar, los planetas promulgan bailes en círculo similares alrededor del sol central. ¿Podría nuestro planeta servir como un mero átomo en el cuerpo del Creador? Ese tipo de conjetura se mató hace siglos atrás!
Zodíaco Para expandir la empatía más allá de lo familiar, la luna nos invita a venir, tal como ella viaja a través de la topografía del Alma Colectiva. Compartiendo sus pasajes, nosotros experimentamos vicariamente las 12 expresiones arquetípicas. Cuando nos alineamos con nuestra naturaleza sentimental, somos capaces de aprovechar la escencia de cada uno. La luna sirve como vehículo que nos permite llegar a ser uno verdaderamente. De esta forma, nos podemos fusionar con todos los aspectos de la Creación. Por lo tanto, en los planes internos, llegamos a ser los 12 arquetipos del tiempo .
¿Te has preguntado alguna vez porqué la gente ACTÚA y algunas veces incluso se parece al signo bajo el cual nace?. La respuesta tiene un poco de poesía cósmica. Cuando el sol (el fundamento padre, Yang supremo) se une con la luna (el fundamento madre, Yin supremo)durante cada luna nueva del mes, la pareja unifica sus fuerzas y crean una consumación cósmica. Juntos dan nacimiento al arquetipo que habita en el reino del signo de su encuentro. Esto explica como la persona Aries adquiere características de carnero o porqué un individuo Tauro puede actuar como un toro. Cada uno es la descendencia de una comunión de las Luminarias. Nosotros los mortales reflejamos en temperamento, algo que sugiere un ADN cósmico.
Los signos del zodíaco están cargados de un fuego Divino, que está cualitativamente distribuido a través de los 12 prismas específicos. Cada uno se distingue por su particular calidad de iluminación o rayo. Un cierto número de videntes han redefinido el Mandala Zodiacal en un agudo análisis de cada uno de sus 360 grados de rayos. Según la cronología Brahmánica, Parashara lleva a cabo la sistematización de la astrología alrededor del 3.200 A.C., quedando definida su existencia como contemporánea de los sucesos que más tarde conformaron el monumental relato épico Mahabharata. Claro está que en el presente esto no se corresponde en absoluto con las cronologías históricas de occidente. Mas allá de las leyendas y mitologías asociadas a los orígenes de la astrología en India, no se pude negar la inigualable producción de tratados para su estudio que la tipifican como humanamente inabarcable.
Con el transcurso del tiempo, aproximadamente desde el siglo VI a. de J.C., la otrora Jyotisha Shastra ha ido recibiendo diversas influencias, lo cual fue estableciendo distintas escuelas o estilos de astrología con una impronta particular. En orden de importancia y propagación hasta la actualidad se identifican con claridad seis tradiciones:
1. Parashari Jyotish ( ver post: "Parashari Jyotish" ).
2. Jaimini Jyotish ( ver post: "Jaimini Jyotish" ).
3. Nadi Jyotish.
4. Tantrik Jyotish.
5. Tajaka Jyotish ( ver post: "Tajaka Jyotish" ).
6. Yavana Jyotish.

YOGAS IN JYOTISH BY SANJAY RATH
YOGA:
- Union/coming together of two or more planets is called yoga.
- Only planets are considered for Yoga and not rashi, as we see “Jadatma (जडात्मा)” through rashis and “Jeevatma (जीवात्मा)” through grahas. And only “Jadatma” contribute in making Yogas.
- All nonliving things (like table, chair, stones etc.) are categorized under “Jadatma”. Jadatma only support in yoga but they do not contribute in creating Yoga. Only Grahas contribute in creating yoga.
SAMBANDHA (RELATIONSHIPS) FORMED BY GRAHAS:
There can be 4types of sambandha between grahas.
1. Purn Sambandha/ Complete Relationship:
- This type of sambandha happens in parivartana yoga. It creates perfect bondage between grahas involved in the sambandha.
- As this type of yoga is considered complete, and it will fructify right from birth.
2. Yuti Sambandha/ Relationship by Conjunction:
- Yuti means coming together. When two or more planets sit in one house, it is called Yuti.
- Yuti is also considered one type of Purn Sambandha, but it is little weaker than the sambandha caused by parivartana, because, when two grahas sit together they will work for each other, help and support each other, work for the same goal but between them differences of opinion is also possible in Yuti Sambandha. Like man-woman get married and form a yuti by coming together, they may have differences of opinions due to which they may fight too, but yuti sambandha goes on like permanent bondage. Similar things happen with grahas too, who come into sambandha by Yuti.
3. Drashti Sambandha/Relationship by Aspect:
- When there is aspect between planets, this type of sambandha is formed. This type of sambandha is consider weak, because it depends upon willpower of the planet, if there is a will, yoga will work, otherwise yoga will not work.
- For example in lord shree Ramas Kundli jupiter is sitting with moon, representing lord Shree Rama, and mars is placed in 7th house representing Lord Hanuman. They didn’t have relationship from birth. The yoga became complete when Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman wished to meet each other, so due to their wish the yoga became complete.
-Yuti sambandha and drasti sambandha fructify in future, but parivartana sambandha fructifies from birth only.
4. Incomplete Parivartana
-This type of sambandha is considered very weak. And in analysis of Yogas, we consider only first 3types of sambandha, and ignore the 4th type of sambandha.
-In this type of sambandha, planet A is placed in the house of planet B, and planet B is just aspecting the house of planet A. So planet B has the desire to move into the house of planet A, and complete the parivartana.
- For example, Jupiter is placed in arise (sign of mars) and mars in Virgo aspecting houses of Jupiter. This means Jupiter went to the house of mars, and completed his work. But mars will work for Jupiter only when he will wish to work. This yoga will also fructify future, as we have to analyze when mars will wish to work for Jupiter.
- Normally wish power of planets fructifies in natural years of planet. Following are the natural/maturity ages of planets:
Mars: 27-28yrs
Sun: 21-22yrs
Moon: 23-24years
Venus: 25-26 years
Jupiter: 16 or 32years
Saturn: 35-36 years
Mercury: 31-32years
Rahu: 41-42 years
Ketu: 47-48 years
- Sometimes dasas are checked to predict about fructification of planet’s wish power.
MAHAPURUSH YOGAS:
-IF any planet is in parivartana with itself, like Jupiter in Pisces will have parivartana with himself, than that planets gets strength to generate mahapurursh yoga. But yoga will be generated only if it is placed in Kendra. Because here kendras/Vishnu sthan are considered purush and trikonas/laxmi sthan are considered stri.
-Ascendant is considered secondary trikon, and primary Kendra.
- Five Mahapurursh yoga give strength of 5elements
1. The one with Hans mahapurush yoga will have completeness in aakash tatva.
2. Shash mahapurush yoga gives too much strength of vayu to the native.
3. Ruchak mahapurush yoga gives strength of fire to the native. Yoga gives strength to fight in wars
4. Malavya mahapurush yoga gives strength of water. Due to which person will always stay happy and will get happiness of all kinds
5. Bhadra mahapurush yoga gives power of earth element. Native with this yoga will wish to rule the whole world.
-To understand results of mahapurush yogas, always check what is the “Aayan (आयन)” of the planet giving mahapurush yoga. Here “Aayan” of the planet is the house, where the planet gets digbala. Mahapurush yogas always work in their “Aayan”
-Following are the results of different mahapurush yogas according to their “Aayan”
1. Malavya Mahapurush Yoga: As shukra gets digbala in 4th house (luxuries and comfort), person will focus in his own luxuries and comfort.
2. Bhadra Mahapurush Yoga: This Yoga gives “Aayan” of lagan (fame). Means person will wish for great name fame in Bhadra mahapurush yoga.
3. Hans Mahapurush Yoga: As Jupiter gets digbala in lagna (intelligence), this Mahapurush Yoga is said to be giver of knowledge and intelligence.
4: Ruchak Mahapurush Yoga: This yoga gives Aayan of 10th house (Karma), so it gives strength to accomplish all type of karmas.
5. Shasha Mahapurush Yoga: This yoga gives Aayan of 7th house (desires). So native born under this yoga will always be indulged in his own desires, starting from food all the desires he will want to be fulfilled.
LAXMINARAYAN YOGA:
- If two or more planets owning Kendra and trikona if make any of above explained 4sambandhas, Laxmi narayan yoga is formed.
- If one planet becomes lord of Kendra and trikona, it becomes yoga karaka itself.
- Ex. In Lord Rama’s Kundli, yoga karaka is mangal. He received great support of lord hanuman to perform his karmas.
- Mangal in 7th, becomes shatrujeet as mars always destroys 12th house and planet placed in 12th from the house from its placement.
- Laxmi narayan Yoga is considered Raj yoga, which comes from god’s grace/ by mighty gayatri’s grace.
Different types of Laxmi narayan yogas:
4kendras are said to be 4legs of dharma. 10,7,4,1 is the order of kendras in decreasing strength.
1. 10th lord making sambandha with trine lords:
- If 9th and 10th lord are forming sambandha, it is called dharmakarmadhipati yoga. It’s said to be the highest yoga in jyotish.
- The person who will take birth under this yoga, it is guaranteed that person will follow dharma in his karmas. God will use hands of such native to do karmas for the good of society.
-This yoga comes by blessings of goddess shakti.
2. 7th lord making sambandha with trine lords:
- If 7th lord is forming sambandha with trikona lords, then also person does too much for the welfare of society/world.
- This yoga comes by blessings of Lord Shiva.
- Native with such combination will like to know about all the religions present in this universe. Such person will not be inclined towards one particular dharma, and will treat all the religions equally. This sambandha gives broad minded approach to the native.
3. 4th lord making sambandha with trine lords:
- This Yoga comes by blessings of Lord Vishnu.
- If 4th lord is forming sambandha with trikona lords, that person is loved by lord Vishnu, and considers whole world as his family.
- Vishnu comes from “Vasudhaiwa Kutumbakam”; person who doesn’t in “Vasudhaiwa Kutumbakam” is not liked by lord Vishnu.
- 4th lord if forms sambandha with lords of trikona, hriday/heart gets cleaned, and “Vasudhaiwa Kutumbakam” mantra is believed by heart, so native born under this yoga considers whole world as his family and serves them, and he lives for society.
4. Lagna lord making sambandha with trine lords:
- This Yoga comes by blessings of Lord Surya.
Gayatris in Laxmi narayan Yoga
4kendras are believed as 4gayatris. 4gayatris are worshipped during 4sandhis/sandhya of a day.
1. Brahma Gayatri / Savirtu Gayatri/ Surya Gayatri:
- Brahma Gayatri is active during the time of sunrise, when sun is in the lagna. It has power of sun’s blessings, and sun is worshipped during this time.
- Suryoday time is known as surya sandhi or brahma sandhi too.
2. Vishnu Gayatri:
- Vishnu Gayatri is said to be active during madhyahan/ abhijeet muhurta. Sun is in the 10th house during the time of Vishnu Gayatri.
- As 4th house from the sun rises as lagna during this time, it shows Vishnu’s blessings.
- Any person who prays to Vishnu or Krishna, before taking food during Vishnu gayatri period, that person will never see shortage of food in his life.
3. Shiva Gayatri:
- As Suryast is believed to be ast (end) of life/day. Shiva Gayatri is active during this time as Shiva is associated with destruction/end.
- 7th house from sun rises as lagna during this time, and 7th house is said to be Shiva’s house, so it shows blessings of Shiva. Whenever life/day sets, Shiva gayatri runs.
- Mrityunjai mantra is recited in anushtup chhand during this time.
4. Turya Gayatri/Kali Gayatri/Devi Gayatri:
-Word turya literally means chaturth/fourth, so this is fourth gayatri of the day.
-Turya Gayatri is active when 10th house from sun rises as lagna, which shows blessings of holy mother.
- People desirous of salvation worship Kaali in jagati chhand during this time.
- It is called Jagran too. Because when the world sleeps, you will stay awake and worship Kaali.
DISCUSSION ON LORD SHREE RAMA’S CHART
Laxmi Narayan Yogas in Shree Rams Chart:
1. Lagnesh and 9th lord making sambandha lagna, so it shows sun’s blessings.
-If person with Kundli having this combination comes to you for knowing the reason of his birth, advise them to worship lord surya. So whenever lagnesh is involved in Laxmi narayan yoga, advise person to worship surya.
2. Lagnesh and 5th lord mutual aspect is making Laxmi narayan yoga,
-This is bhavishya yoga, as sambandha by aspect fructifies in future.
3. 9th and 10th lord aspecting each other, so he will get help from mother goddess, due to which he would do some great karma in society, for which he will always be remembered.
Other discussions on Shree Rama’s Chart
-Lord Laxmana has similar Rashi chart as Lord Rama, as he was born in Kark lagan the next day after Shree Rama’s birth. The only difference is, laxman had moon in ashlesha nakshatra, that’s why laxman is called “Vasuki” too.
-Lord Bharat was born on the same day as Rama, but in the evening with Pisces ascendant, and moon in pushya.
- All 4brothers were born within 2days.
- Lord Laxman had moon in ashlesha naksatra, and he once doubted Lord Bharat who had Meena lagan, because ashlesha nakshatra will never believe jupiter sign, where as pushya nakshatra (naksatra of lord shree Rama) will blindly trust jupiter lagan. Devta of ashlesha nakshatra is sarp devta, who doesn’t trust bruhaspati.
-Always try to analyze nakshatras from devtas, as mind works under influence of devtas.
-Bharini nakshatra is considered bad as its naksatra is owned by Yama (the lord of death). Butchers are born under this naksatra, their hands will not hesitate while killing someone. They are experts in war.
ABHIJEET RASHI
-In jyotish, 4th house from surya is said abhijeet rashi. There is akshaya patra (Akshaya patra means the vessel in which food never falls short) in this rashi.
-Praying to the Aditya of sign placed in 4th house from the natal sun, assures that native never faces shortage of food in life.
BAD HOUSES
- 2,3,6,8,11,12 are considered bad houses.
- Ka- is believed to brahmakshar according to karpuradi stotra of kali. So life was created from ‘ka’ akshar.
- Tri- three ‘ka’= 3,6,11. Trika houses (3rd, 6th and 11th) are believed to be srushti sthan of brahma. If lagnesh goes 3,6,11, person becomes knowledgeable/intelligent like brahma.
- From Trika Bhava, 6th house is the biggest dosha bhava. Any planet placed in there, becomes the reason for native’s enmity/ defeat..
Example:
1. If 7th lord is placed in 6th, spouse will be inimical.
2. If 3rd lord in 6th, brother will be inimical.
3. 9th lord in 6th, father will become enemy of the native.
4. If Lagnesh in 6th- person can be his own enemy OR he will be so intelligent that he will come out of all the dosas.
-6th house is said to be worst bhava, but if shubh grahas are placed there, person will try to come out of his avagunas. If there are paap grahas in 6th house, person will be more indulged in his paap karmas. When paap grahas are there, lagnesh must be necessarily strong.
- When lagnesh goes in to 3,11, person should worship Shiva as 7th is in trines to 3,11. By doing so person’s intelligence will give him success.
-When lagnesh goes to 6th house, it is advised to worship Vishnu or to worship mother goddess in saumya roop. But generally natives with such combination worship durga as 10th house is in trine to 6th house. But person will not like to worship Vishnu/devi as 6th is the marak to 5th house of devotion.
- Shiva and mother goddess should always be worshipped together, because they are like parents. So never worship them alone.
- Whenever Saturn is in 9th house , it gives veda-vikaar. Sani in 9th aspects 6th house of your own weakness. Such person will criticize Vedas in its dasa, and due to this weakness he will be devoid of good luck. Such natives advised to worship mother, as 10th house is in trines to 6th house, if it is not done then native will suffer in karma bhava.
- Lagnesh in 6th house- Native will have expertise in fights, so he should be advised to be lawyer.
- In whichever bhava lagnesh sits is called paka lagna. Paka means to ripe. Paka lagna is the intelligence of the native. Strengths and weaknesses of person can be analyzed from paka lagna.
- Houses in quadrants and trines from paka lagna are considered to be favorable to native, and houses in 6, 8, and 12 will not be favorable to native.
- When 6th house in paka lagan, lagna will fall in 8th from paka lagna. So there are chances of defamation due to some acts of native.
-Grahas placed in Kendra/trikona from lagnesh share paraspar karaka relationship with lagnesh.
DURYOGAS:
- When good house lords if makes sambandha with bad house lord, it is called duryoga.
- When there is duryoga in the chart, malefic becomes benefic and benefic becomes malefic. So astrologers advise to strengthen such malefics to have benefit from the yoga.
- 3rd is kama bhava, the house of fall. When 9th lord in 3rd or 3rd lord in 9th, father can be characterless or person will have some very bad experiences with guru/father.
- But if there is a parivartana sambandha between 3rd and 9th lord. After bad experiences with guru/father, person will come out of all this and will become very dharmik. It will happen only when 9th lord is weak, and 3rd lord is strong, because here 3rd lord will act as benefic and 9th as malefic. If there is need, advise gemstone of 3rd house too as it gives raj yoga sometimes. So if 3rd lord is strengthened and 9th lord is weakened, person will be blessed with very strong dharma, and if 9th lord is strong and 3rd is weak then reverse can happen.
Example:
1. Ex prime minister PV Narasima Rao had Virgo lagna, with sun, mars and mercury in the 10th house. Here sun and mars were functional malefic due to ownership of bad houses, and due to conjunction with functional benefic mercury, sun and mars became auspicious planets for him and mercury became inauspicious for him. So sun and mars gave power to him in their dasa, where as mercury made him fall in dasa. He had worn red coral in his middle finger (Arth trikon placement of mars) and became PM of India in mars dasa, and in sun dasa he had become CM of Andhra Pradesh
2. Aquarius lagna chart with exchange between 6th lord moon and 10th lord mars. So mars owning good house became functional malefic, so its debilitation is considered good, but moon’s debilitation is not good as it became functional benefic due to this exchange so native can be advised to wear a pearl or chant mantra of mother goddess.
3. Scorpio lagna chart with 3rd and 5th lord in exchange, so 3rd lord Saturn should be strengthened, and as Saturn is in the mantra bhava, do mantra related to Saturn or deity related to Saturn. Don’t donate, things related to Saturn as it will make the planet weaker. If 9th house was involved, then person would have been advised to go to temple
- When 2 functional malefics get involved in sambandha, they both must be weakened to get good results
Example:
In Pisces lagan chart, if 6th lord sun and 8th lord in venus in exchange, they both must be weakened. But sun here already became weak due to debilitation and sun is resources, so native must be doing very well financially. But venus is not debilitated or finished (MKS), as Leo is not considered clear 6th house for Pisces, because sun and jupiter are friends, so its mitra-sadashtak and not shatru-shadastak. Mitra-shadashtak is not bad because mitra-shadastak helps to come out of avagunas, Whereas shatru shadastak will indulge you more in shadripus. So, if Meena lagna person if worships surya, 6th house problem will be vanished. But if Aquarius lagna native does some Chandra related pooja, he will end up inviting more problems for him due to shatru-shadastak.
-Paap grahas in 5, 9 are always bad, as they directly affect bhagya. So first thing to be strengthened in horoscope in 5th, 9th house. Following are the deities to be worshipped for different paap grahas in trines.
Shani- Kali
Mangal- Shiva
Rahu/ketu- Any form of Guru
DISCUSSION ON MARRIAGE AND NAVAMSA:
Vivaaha: Vivaaha is defined as one man and one woman staying together in mind (not necessarily with body), and during that time they will not think of somebody else for one year at least. This definition is given by Lord Krishna in “Mahabharata", and it will be applicable in kaliyuga.
1. Number of fairly strong planets in 7th house, will show the number of spouses person will marry.
2. When 2nd marriage happens without breaking the first marriage, its analysis can be done from the 3rd house from 7th, i.e. 9th house.
-3rd marriage with concurrence of 1st and 2nd marriage will be seen from 11th house (3rd from 9th), and further marriages of such types should be seen in the similar pattern.
3. When 2nd marriage happens after breaking of 1st marriage, it can be analyzed from 2nd house (8th from 7th house)
-3rd marriage, will be seen from 9th house (8th from 8th), and further marriages of such types should be seen in the similar pattern.
4. 7th house of rashi chart, shows how you see the marriage. Whereas, 7th house of d9 shows what fruits you are getting in the marriage.
-If rahu is placed in 7th house in rashi chart, then person will have terrible attitude towards his wife. But if simultaneously he is having in jupiter in 7th house in d9, he will be lucky to get a good wife in spite of having bad attitude towards marriage.
5. Placement of lord of the 7th house from venus in rashi chart tells us, from where the spouse will come.
If it is placed in fixed signs- Partner will be living very near to you
If it is placed in dual signs- Partner will be living little far from you
If it is placed in movable signs- Partner will be living very far from you
Example Chart-
Male chart: Scorpio lagna, venus in Aquarius, Leo sign in 7th from venus. Lord of Leo, sun in Pisces rashi, whose lord jupiter is placed in Leo forming parivartana sambandha. Due to exchange guru should be considered as the main planet bringing spouse for the native (guru will bring wife for the person). Guru is in fixed sign in d1 and it is in mesha navamsa. Native met his wife during his academics as guru was placed in fixed sign in d1, showing partner residing very near to the native.
Female chart: Taurus Ascendant, venus in Capricorn, cancer sign in 7th from. So, moon becomes husband giver here, which is placed in Aquarius (fixed sign).
Aquarius moon and Leo jupiter make gajkesari yoga, so marriage will be considered good and fruitful, couple will have nice children.
- Planets placed in 7th house of d9 will have strong influences on your partners lagna. In above example the male chart had arise sign in 7th house of d9 with jupiter, venus and mercury in it, so these 3planets would be having major influences on wife’s lagna. In wife’s chart lagna lord became Venus (Taurus ascendant), placed in 9th house conjoining mercury and in 5th house there is jupiter. Planets in trines from ascendant influence the nature of the native
- If you are given two horoscopes and asked query whether these two natives will marry each other or not, then check if Horoscope A’s whole family can be seen from the Horoscope B (when analyzed considering 7th house of Horoscope B as lagna), if it can be seen then it can be concluded that natives with these two horoscope will marry in future.
GRAH MAALIKA YOGA
1. When 4 or more grahas in line (adjacent houses), this yoga is formed. This yoga is like garland of planets.
2. When planets are involved in Graha Maalika Yoga, they can’t act on their own because they are like tied up in the garland of planets.
3. Generally Starting planet of Graha Maalika Yoga is important, as it is believed that starting should be good. But in Kaliyuga, Ending is given more important. Nowadays end fruits are more important than the way of doing work.
- Starting of Graha Maalika Yoga is considered as a form of Vishnu/hari, and ending of Graha Maalika Yoga is like a form of Shiva.
4. Last planet in the yoga is controlling planet as its giver of fruits and has controlling power.
5. So it is always important to analyze the last planet in the yoga, house where the yoga ends, and strength of karaka of house.
6. Starting of Yoga gives idea about how will be the start of yoga and motive of the yoga.
Example: Pisces ascendant, Jupiter in ascendant, ketu in 2nd house, moon in 3rd house, mars in 4th house, Saturn in 5th house, venus in 6th house, mercury in 7th house, rahu and sun in the 8th house
-Some scholars don’t count ketu in analyzing graha maalika yoga. So there are two methods to see Graha Maalika Yoga.
1. Considering 9planets (Including Ketu)
2. Considering 8planets (Excluding Ketu)
-So if we consider ketu in above example then yoga will start from lagna, otherwise from 3rd house.
- In example chart yoga ends in 8th house, which is having bad planetary combination of sun and rahu. So it shows danger to health and longevity.
- Vimsottari dasa doesn’t work in presence of Graha Maalika Yoga. Native of above chart suffered from undiagnosed problem related to stomach in vimsottari dasa of jupiter, in spite of having well placed jupiter in lagna. So don’t use vimsottari when Graha Maalika Yoga is present in the chart.
- Kalachakra dasa is very good dasa for graha maalika yoga, kaalsarp yoga etc.
- Graha Maalika Yoga is type of Sarp Yoga only, as all grahas are in line.
- Shoola dasa can also be applied in Graha Maalika Yoga. According to shoola dasa 4th house was active when the health problem started. 4th house is having mars with graha drasti of rahu, but lord of 4th house i.e. mercury is having benefic aspect of jupiter, so Jupiter’s remedy can help the native.
- When watery planets like venus or moon involved in disease, disease will come through water/food. When fiery planets like sun or mars are involved then problem will come through fire or allergy.
- There is Parivartana Yoga between 6th and 8th, and venus is involved in parivartana, so disease will come through food. When earthy planet like mercury is involved, problem will come through some strong smell. Venus here was placed in sign Leo. Fixed and fiery sign show problem coming from eating nonveg food. Moreover Leo sign generally signifies nonveg food, and lord of Leo is sun which signifies egg, so disease came after eating an egg.
- There is a simple dasa calculation mentioned for Graha Maalika Yoga in Agni Purana. It is named as “Buddhi Gati Dasa” in Jhora software.
Calculating Buddhi Gati Dasa:
- Buddhi gati dasa normally starts from 4th house planet in it will initiate the first dasa of natives life, the dasa starts at 4th house & ends in lagna i.e. dasa is 9yrs long, 2nd dasa will be off the next planet in the line & ends on 2nd house & also it will be 9yrs long.
- If planet is exalted then one extra year will be added, and if dasa planet is debilitated then one year will be deducted.
- Up to 27 years, Buddhi gati dasa of shukra was running and as venus is placed in 6th house so disease came before 27.
- After venus dasa, mercury dasa came. Mercury became terribly malefic due to aspect of Saturn and mars, so relief is not experienced in its dasa too.
- Remedy for the disease would be to worship form of Shiva related to planets placed in end of Graha Maalika Yoga.
- Here Surya debilitated in end in Maalika Yoga, conjoining rahu. So only remedy to get relief in this case is to worship dakshinamurthy form of Shiva.

Alinea tus chacras: Método Antiaging
Según la antigua medicina oriental, si los vórtices de energía sutil o chacras no giran cómodamente y esa energía esta obstruida, comienza un rápido proceso de envejecimiento.
Interesantemente estos chacras están íntimamente relacionados con nuestro sistema endocrino, cuyo deterioro está ligado a la reducción de hormonas y el envejecimiento. Esta antigua sabiduría establece que cada chacra tiene su paridad con una glándula endocrina.
Primer Chacra o Chacra raíz. Se identifica con el sistema reproductivo, los testículos, ovarios, la sexualidad y las hormonas sexuales. Su desbalance puede reflejarse también en dolores en la parte baja de la espalda, la ciática y con problemas de venas varicosas, impotencia y retención de líquido en el cuerpo.

Tercer Chacra o Chacra de plexo solar. Páncreas Su desbalance puede ocasionar anorexia, bulimia, problemas de auto estima.
Cuarto Chacra o Chacra del corazón. Glándula Timo. Los impactos emocionales pueden obstruir su fluir de energía surgiendo problemas del corazón y asma. Este Chacra rige el amor propio, el amor divino y la compasión.
Quinto Chacra o Chacra de la garganta. Guarda paridad con la Tiroides. Está relacionado con la capacidad de comunicar. Su desbalance se relaciona con pobre comunicación.

El mantener libre de obstrucción el fluir de la energía sutil de los chacras se manifiesta en cada glándula, revitalizándola y alargando su periodo funcional. El liberar estos vórtices de energía y revitalizar los chacras como método antiaging no es complicado. Existen varias formas de hacerlo, y practicarlas todas como un método holístico representaría grandes beneficios. How to Create and Use Vedic Sundial

This article explores the ingenuity of ancient Vedic scholars in extracting the vast astronomical information with the help of very simple instruments.
Here we propose to explain the method of erecting a ‘Vedic Sundial’ as described in the Narada Purana (II.50.125-131), believed to be one of the ancient classics compiled around 1700 BC, and the Surya Siddhanta, one of the most important Indian astronomical classics.
The erection of the ‘Vedic Sundial’
Select a flat smooth stone or prepare a cemented surface, and level it with water. Draw an even circle having a radius of 12 units of any measurement. In the centre of this circle fix a cylindrical shaft, called ‘Shanku’. The Shanku is divided in twelve equal parts and has a height equal to the radius of the circle.
The classics refer to the unit of measurement as angula or ‘a finger’s-breadth’. The Shanku should be two angulas in diameter, uniformly circular (cylindrical), twelve angulas in height and made of strong wood. If according to this measurement a Shanku of twelve angula is formed, it will have a height of about nine inches.
Knowing the directions
Mark the two points on the circle where the extremity of the Shanku’s shadow touches the circle, once in the forenoon and again in the afternoon. Please refer to the diagram below. Points A and B represent the forenoon and the afternoon points respectively.
Considering these two points as the centre, draw two bisecting arcs a and b, forming the shape of a ‘fish’. Draw a line passing through the ‘mouth’ and ‘tail’ of this fish. This line is the north-south direction line. The line will pass through the centre of the circle O and touch the circle at two points N and S, indicating the north and south points. This line also indicates the meridian of the place.
Again form a ‘fish-figure’ on the north-south line by drawing two bisecting arcs n and s keeping the north and south points as their centres. A line formed by joining the ‘mouth’ and ‘tail’ will be perpendicular to the north-south line and is known as the east-west line. The east-west line passes through the centre of the circle and cuts the circle at two points E and W indicating the east and west points. The east-west line, is also called the prime vertical. The point O, the point of intersection of the north-south and east-west lines, which is also the centre point of the circle where the base of the Shanku lies, is the zenith point.
Thus, after knowing the four directions, by forming similar ‘fish-figures’ (bisecting arcs) between the two points of the directions, find out the four intermediate directions and mark them appropriately.
Draw a circumscribing square, having its sides equal to the diameter of the circle and the four corners of the square touching the four cardinal direction lines NE, SE, SW, NW. The east and west sides of this square are each divided into twenty four parts to form a linear scale. Its use is to aid in ascertaining the length of any given shadow.
Find the position of the Sun
The Indian system of astronomy primarily does the calculations in the Sayana (tropical) system. To convert the planetary longitudes to Nirayana (sidereal), subtract ayanamsha for the given moment from the Sayana position.
Mid-day shadow: When the shadow of the Shanku coincides with the north-south line, the Sun is exactly on the meridian of the place. At that time it is local noon or mid-day of that place. The shadow thus formed is referred to as the mid-day shadow.
Equinoctial shadow: When the Sun is either on the vernal equinox or on the autumnal equinox, the shadow of the Shanku thus formed on the mid-day is termed as Palabha or equinoctial shadow.
Equinoctial line: Mark the extremity of the mid-day shadow on the day when the Sun is at the equinox. Draw a line parallel to the east-west line, touching this point. The line is called the equinoctial line. Refer to the diagram on the right.
North declination line: On the day of the summer solstice, when the Sun is at its maximum declination north, mark the extremity of the midday shadow and draw a line touching this point, parallel to the east-west line and mark it summer solstice line or north declination line.
South declination line: Again on the day of the winter solstice, when the Sun is at its maximum declination south, mark the extremity of the midday shadow. Draw a line parallel to the east-west line passing through this point and mark the line as the winter solstice line or south declination line.
In the above paragraphs we have referred to summer and winter solstice as applicable to persons in the earth’s northern hemisphere. For people in the southern hemisphere, for example Australia, Sun’s maximum northern declination is referred to as winter solstice and Sun’s maximum southern declination as summer solstice.
Now we have got three lines: north declination line, equinoctial line and south declination line. The equinoctial line will be in between the two maximum declination lines of the Sun. On the north-south line, divide the distance between the north declination line and the equinoctial line in three parts, and the distance between the equinoctial line and south declination line also in three parts. On the left side of these six divisions mark vertically from top to bottom 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4. On the right side of these six divisions again mark from top to bottom 10, 11, 12, 1, 2 and 3. These numbers represent the rashis. If the person is located near the equator, these divisions will be uniformally spaced out. But if the person is located far north of the equator, the divisions for signs Libra to Pisces would be more spaced out compared to the divisions for Aries to Virgo. Reverse would be the case for a person located far south from the equator. For persons located at higher latitudes, north or south, it is best to mark the extremity of shadows on the days of Sayana Sankranti (entrance of Sun in Sayana rashis) either of the six rashis of Uttarayana (Capricorn to Gemini) or Dakshinayana (Cancer to Sagittarius).
Observe the extremity of the midday shadow of the Shanku on any day of the year on the scale. When the Sun is in its southward course, the shadow point on the scale indicates the position of the Sun among six rashis from Karka (Cancer) to Dhanu (Sagittarius). When the Sun is in its northward course, the midday shadow point on the scale indicates the position of the Sun among six rashis from Makara (Capricorn) to Mithuna (Gemini).
